But the more I worked with my hands,
the more I realised — it just doesn’t work like that.

You can’t rush clay.
You can’t rush process.
You can’t rush something that’s meant to be made slowly.

And honestly… I don’t want to.

I don’t want this to feel rushed.
Or forced.
Or disconnected.

I want it to feel real.

Even if it takes longer.
Even if it grows slower.

Because that’s the kind of life I actually want to live.

I hear this question a lot.

And honestly — I understand it.

Because if you compare it to mass production,
it will always feel like too much.

But handmade was never meant to be cheap.

It’s slow.
Unpredictable.
And sometimes frustrating.

There are pieces that don’t survive the kiln.
There are days where nothing works.
There are hours that never turn into a final product.

And that’s part of it.

So when you buy handmade,
you’re not just buying the thing you hold in your hand.

You’re buying everything that came before it.

I’ve always loved creating pieces that feel somewhere between jewelry and small sculptures — light to wear, but full of texture, warmth, and tiny imperfections that make them feel alive.

Porcelain has something delicate about it, but also timeless.
It carries fingerprints, movement, softness, memory.

Lately I’ve been thinking less about “collections” and more about creating an entire world around the things I love most:

Slow Monday morning ✨
A warm cup of tea, handmade ceramics, and a quiet start to the week. Sometimes the smallest rituals become the most beautiful part of the day 🤍

I could try to make everything the same.

Same shape.
Same glaze.
Same finish.

But it would never really work.

Because this isn’t a factory.
And I don’t want it to be one.

Every piece I make shifts a little.
The glaze runs differently.
The texture changes.
The form moves in its own direction.

Sometimes just slightly.
Sometimes more than I expected.

And I’ve learned to stop fighting that.

Because that’s exactly where the character is.

Not in perfection.
Not in control.

But in the fact that something was made by hand,
in a real moment,
and will never exist in the exact same way again.

that we forget how special it is

Not everything I make turns out well.

And I don’t think I’ve ever said that here before.

Some pieces crack.
Some warp.
Some just… don’t feel right, even if technically they’re fine.

And sometimes I spend hours on something
just to realise at the end
that it’s not it.

That it won’t leave this studio.

And I think that’s the part people don’t see.

Because online everything looks finished.
Clean.
Beautiful.

But real work doesn’t look like that.

It’s slow.
Messy.
Unpredictable.

Sometimes frustrating.

But also… honest.

Because when something finally comes out right —
you know exactly what it took to get there.

Not just time.
But patience.
Attention.
Letting go of things that don’t work.

I think that’s why I don’t chase perfection.

Because I know what it costs.

What I often enjoy most while making larger forms is that they carry a different kind of weight — not only physically, but visually too. They immediately become part of a table, a shelf, a room.

The glaze here moves freely, settling differently every time, leaving soft traces that can never be repeated in exactly the same way.

Perhaps that is what I love most in handmade work: even simplicity always keeps something unpredictable.

And I feel like this needs to be said more often.

When you buy handmade,
you’re not buying from a warehouse.
You’re buying from a real person
who designs, creates, fires, packs and ships everything themselves.

Every piece takes time.
Every piece carries work, attention and risk.

And yes — sometimes things can happen during shipping.
Even when pieces are packed with multiple layers of protection.

What many people don’t realize is that small handmade businesses don’t operate the same way as large platforms.

In many cases, the first solution is replacement —
not an immediate refund while keeping the product.

And yet, small businesses are often expected to act like big corporations.

There are also situations where handmade items are returned simply because they are “not perfect”.

But handmade is not meant to be identical.
That is exactly what makes it special.

Small variations are not flaws.
They are part of the process.

This is why reading descriptions before buying matters so much.
Understanding what you’re choosing matters.

Because behind every order,
there is a person doing everything — from the first idea to the final package.

Running a handmade business also means educating people along the way.

And I truly believe that conscious buying changes everything.

Before you say a handmade mug is “too expensive”…
read this.

Because what you see is just the final piece.
What you don’t see is everything behind it.

It starts with an idea.
Sketching, testing, changing proportions, sometimes starting over.

Then plaster molds.
Material, preparation, time.

Then clay.
Casting or shaping.
And in my case — every single detail is added by hand.
Handles, textures, mushrooms, small elements that make the piece unique.

Then drying.
Not hours. Days.

Then the first firing.
Kiln space, electricity, time.
And always a risk — pieces can crack, warp or fail.

Then glazing.
Done by hand, one by one.
No automation. No two pieces come out exactly the same.

Then the second firing.
Again — time, cost, and risk.

Then packaging.
3–4 layers of paper, bubble wrap, protection, box, label.
Around 10–15 minutes for just one piece.

And that’s only the packing.
Before that, there’s sourcing materials, buying boxes, eco packaging, tapes, preparing everything.

Then shipping.
Driving to the post office, waiting, logistics.

And everything is done by one person.

And this is still before profit.

So when you buy handmade,
you’re not paying for “just a mug”.

You’re paying for: time, skill, experience, materials, energy, and a process that cannot be rushed.

Handmade will never be fast.
It will never be identical.
And it will never be comparable to mass production.

And honestly — that’s exactly the point.

One thing I wish more people knew about ceramics:

not every ceramic piece is automatically food safe just because it looks finished.

In a world where people often buy with their eyes first, this gets overlooked all the time.
A glossy glaze, a beautiful surface, a lovely color — none of that alone tells you the whole story.
Food safe ceramics are not only about how a piece looks.

They are about what it is made from, how it is fired, how the glaze behaves, and whether the maker understands the materials well enough to create something that is both beautiful and functional.
And that matters.
Because handmade ceramics are not only decorative objects.

They become part of daily rituals.
Morning coffee. Tea in the evening. Soup on a quiet day. Cake shared with someone you love.
So when a piece is meant for food and drink, it should be created with real care and knowledge from the beginning.

This is something I value deeply in my own work:
not only making pieces that feel special, but making pieces that are honest in their purpose.
Beautiful is important.
